Lesson Policy

This policy is designed to protect our teachers’ time and income. Our music instructors deserve the same career stability as professionals in other fields, and this policy helps ensure that stability. All parents and students are required to acknowledge this policy upon registration. If you have any questions, please reach out to our administration at admin@livingmusicwinnipeg.com

Lesson Scheduling
Your lesson time is reserved especially for you, please do not schedule other appointments or activities during your lesson time. Once a time is established, it is important to attend at your scheduled time.

Our school year starts on Monday September 8, 2025; last day of lessons is Saturday June 27, 2026. July and August 2026 are an optional summer term.

We recognize that schedules can change, if you need a permanent change in your lesson time please contact us at admin@livingmusicwinnipeg.com

Lateness

If you are late, you may only receive the remainder of your lesson. Students arriving late will not have their lesson time extended. No make-up lessons will be arranged.

No Show

Unattended lessons without notice (online or in-person) will be considered as a “No Show”. The lesson is billed and no make-up lessons are offered. Lesson payment for No Shows will NOT be credited or refunded.

Cancellation

If for any reason, including but not limited to sickness, vacations, and other activities, you are not able to attend your lesson as scheduled, please cancel your lesson by logging into the student portal. Subject to the following rules, you may receive a make-up credit, which will allow you to book a make-up lesson.

  • You will receive a make-up credit only if you log in to the student portal and cancel your lesson 24 hours before the scheduled lesson time. (Note: Messaging or calling your instructor will not get you your make-up credit)

  • Each student can receive up to four (4) make-up credits within the school year (September 8, 2025 - June 27, 2026). You will not receive further make-up credits if you have received four credits.

  • Make-up credits can only be used to book make-up lessons. Make-up credits have no cash value.

  • Make-up credits are not transferable - only the student who canceled their lessons can use their credits.

  • If you are not able to attend a make-up lesson that you have booked, the make-up credit will still be applied as if you have attended the lesson.

  • Make-up credits expire at the end of the school year (June 27, 2026), or when you discontinue lessons (whichever comes first). Any unused make-up credits will be considered forfeited.

All other cancellations by the student are billed normally. No make-up lessons will be offered; no credits or refunds will be given. If you find out that you are not able to attend your lesson within 24 hours, please still cancel your lesson by logging into the student portal so that your instructor is aware.

Cancellation by the instructor and Substitute Instructor - Due to unexpected circumstances, your instructor may not be available. In efforts to ensure that lesson progress is uninterrupted, we will do our best to offer a qualified substitute instructor. If a substitute instructor is not available, you will receive a credit for the missed lesson or your instructor will schedule a lesson on another date.

Lessons and Payment
Lessons are 30 / 45 / 60 minutes each. Lessons are one-on-one between the student and the instructor. Lessons are scheduled weekly. We do not offer bi-weekly lessons.

Lesson Rate

$28 per 30 minutes / $42 per 45 minutes / $56 per hour. Lesson rate covers the instruction during the lesson time. The student (or guardian / parent if applicable) is responsible for purchasing instruments, accessories, lesson books and other lesson materials as suggested by the instructor.

Lesson Registration and Initial Payment

A Registration Form needs to be filled out by the student (or their guardians / parents if applicable). The payment for the first four lessons is due upon registration and is non-refundable. We accept major credit cards.

All students are assumed to continue lessons until the end of the school year (June 27, 2026), unless a 30-day written notice of discontinuation (see Discontinuation of Lesson below) is provided to the Lesson Coordinator at admin@livingmusicwinnipeg.com

Lesson Payment

Lesson payments are due on the 1st of each month (except for the initial payment for the first four lessons, which is due upon registration).

When signing up for lessons, a credit card must be provided. This method of payment is kept on file for monthly pre-authorized payment. Other methods of payment are not accepted.

Lessons are billed for the entire month. For example, if a student is scheduled to have four 30-minute lessons in October, a payment of $112 ($28 each lesson) will be processed on October 1. Depending on holidays, school breaks, number of days in a month, and other factors, the actual number of scheduled lessons may vary.

Pre-authorized payments will only be stopped upon discontinuation of lessons but not until outstanding balances are cleared up.

Failed Payment

Should a recurring payment be declined for any reason, the student (or parent / guardian if applicable) will be contacted by email or phone and given seven business days to remit a replacement payment plus a $25 NSF (Non-Sufficient Fund) fee.

After the seven-day grace period, the student’s instructor will be given notice to cease lessons and disallow attendance immediately. The student will be removed from the schedule and we reserve the right to schedule other students for that time slot.

Discontinuation of Lesson

If a student wishes to stop taking lessons and be removed from the schedule, please provide written notice to the Lesson Coordinator at admin@livingmusicwinnipeg.com 30 days prior to the next payment (the 1st of the following month). This will ensure that your pre-authorized payment can be stopped before the next payment date.

Without the 30-day notice, all lessons will be billed normally. Any missed lesson will be seen as No Show or Cancellation as outlined above. Non-attendance is not considered as notice of discontinuation.

Customer Privacy
We are committed to the privacy of you as our customers and therefore will not divulge any personal information, unless required by law, to persons not on the account (including payment receipts). If there is a need for releasing information to a person not on the account, we will require written consent from the account holder.
